How do I register and what is the payment process? |
a)
|
Please
register online on the HKLTC website-- "Register
Online" . Be sure to click "Submit"
when completed. You will receive an e-mail confirmation
when done correctly. Try again if you do not receive
an e-mail confirmation. You can also print out the
HKLTC Registration Form and mail it in with the
deposit, but HKLTC prefers if you register online
for we can respond to you quicker. Upon receiving
your online registration, or mailed in copy, HKLTC
will send you an e-mail confirmation. |

Next,
deposit your registration downpayment of US$100
to "activate" your enrollment. HKLTC can
not fully process your registration without this
deposit. This deposit payment is not refundable.
The registration deposit of US$100 is to validate
your registration and start the confirmation process.
It is part of the total program fee and not extra.

Upon
receiving this US$100 deposit, HKLTC will send you
an e-mail confirmation. Review the HKLTC website
and print off any information you need. This e-mail
letter will be your receipt of payment, and we will
include important information such as your next
deposit due date, arrival and departure dates, as
well as your remaining total balance. Let us know
if you have any questions or concerns, e-mail them
to us and a HKLTC counselor will get back to you
promptly. |
d)

The
second deposit of $300 is what actually "confirms"
you in the program. This 2nd deposit is also part
of the program fee and not extra. All payments are
credited towards your balance due. This payment
is due by the date in the previous e-mail receipt
letter. A late fee of $100 will apply if received
after 10 days of the stated due date. |

Upon
receiving this deposit of US$300, HKLTC will send
another e-mail receipt letter. We will send your
confirmation of enrollment as soon as possible.
The
balance payment is not due until you receive your
confirmations. Unless you register late and the
starting date is within 2 weeks. Otherwise, your
balance payment will be due after we send your
confirmations. The due date for the final payment
(balance) will be stated in the confirmation letter.
Confirmations may be sent by regular postal mail
or possibly even by e-mail. A late fee of US$100
also will apply for the balance payment if not
received by the stated due date in your confirmation
letter. |
f)

Upon
receiving your final balance payment, HKLTC will
send another e-mail receipt letter. In addition,
HKLTC will send your final "arrival contact"
information by postal mail or e-mail. |
g)

If
you are registering within 2 weeks of the starting
date, you will need to express mail the total program
fee. |
h)
|
HKLTC
reserves the right to cancel any registration if
payments are not received in a timely manner. |

4)
How early should I register? |
As
soon as you know which program and dates you want, we
suggest you send us the HKLTC Registration Form with
deposit. Early registration is advised for all programs,
so a space is reserved for you and all the paperwork
is taken care of in a timely manner.
In general, we ask that you try to follow the following
guidelines:
a) |
Monthly
and Weekly Programs, please register at least one
month prior to the starting date. Earlier is preferred.
Call or e-mail if applying at last minute. |
b)

Summer
Programs, register at least 2 months prior to starting
date. Earlier is much preferred to avoid the "summer-rush".
Call or e-mail if applying at the last minute. |
c)
|
Semester/Quarter/Year
Terms, register at least 2 months prior to the starting
date. Earlier is preferred. Call or e-mail if last
applying at the last minute. |
d)
|
If
you want to study in our
school in Beijing , please register 2 months
in advance for the Summer dates and at least 3 months
prior to starting dates for the Semester terms.
Earlier is much preferred, for you will need a Visa
on these programs. Call or e-mail if applying at
the last minute. |
NOTE:
HKLTC has a open-door, rolling admissions policy for
all programs...until filled. If close to the starting
date, please contact HKLTC. Space may be available!

5)
What should I expect when I register with HKLTC? |
Overall,
you should expect prompt courteous responses from the
HKLTC counselors. Upon receiving your registration and
deposit, HKLTC will send an e-mail receipt letter providing
additional information and instructions. Please
do not expect to receive any brochures by regular mail.
If you have any questions or concerns, please send them
to us by e-mail or call our office. HKLTC will be sending
all the receipt letters by e-mail, so please check your
e-mail regularly for HKLTC's responses. Actual confirmations
and final arrival information will be sent by regular
postal mail or possibly by e-mail. Eventually, all documents
and confirmations will be sent to HKLTC applicants via
e-mail.

When should I plan to arrive and depart? |
Plan
on arriving the day before the starting date and depart
on the day after the program ends. HKLTC will also mention
these dates in your receipt letters.

Are students from all over the world? |
Yes,
students from all over the world participate in these
programs. Therefore, it becomes a true "international"
studies program. You will join other students upon arrival
and soon are making friends and socializing with students
from several countries. You are not alone, HKLTC staff
will assist you during the entire period.

Is medical and accidental insurance mandatory? |
Yes.
HKLTC requires all applicants to have or obtain adequate
medical and accidental insurance before starting the
program. Please be sure to send HKLTC a copy of your
insurance card, and if you already have insurance then
double check with your current insurance company to
find out if you will be covered while overseas and how
claims are processed. Overall, it is for your own protection
to have such insurance.

What if I have to cancel the enrolled program? |
Cancellations
are effective the same day HKLTC receives it in writing.
Cancellations must be in writing to be processed - e-mail
is acceptable. No phone call cancellations - it must
be in writing.
All
payments, less $100 deposit and less the $500 enrollment
confirmation, fully refundable up to 45 days prior to
program starting date. Within 45 days of starting date,
an additional $100 per person is nonrefundable. Within
10 days of starting date, 100% of program cost is nonrefundable
due to the many expenses involved in arranging a program.
If
you are forced to return home after departure, or starting
the program, you can also have
the option to apply your total payment, less any penalties
(mentioned below), towards any program later the same
year or the following year. HKLTC will credit your account.

What is the best way to communicate with HKLTC? |
E-mail
is the quickest and most efficient way to communicate
with HKLTC counselors. E-mail allows staff to respond
promptly to the many questions we receive about the
various programs, and helps keep us from playing "phone-tag".

HKLTC counselors are often very busy processing registrations
forms or answering numerous questions via e-mail, but
they will return your call in a timely manner if you
