Elementary Chinese Course (90 Hours)
Objectives
This course is designed for students learning Chinese as a
second language. The course introduces the variables pertinent
to language communication and develops students' communication
skills in everyday life contexts.

the workplace.

Students will be able to:

the characteristics and functions of different kinds of
common practical Chinese writing, and the differences between
formats
- Use
suitable formats, effective word choices, and varied writing
styles to meet the needs of different situations

- Practice
of different types of Chinese writing skills, such as exposition,
narration, description, argumentation, etc.
- Practice
of practical Chinese writing skills, such as letters (business,
invitations, complaints, etc.), press releases, documents
of meetings, reports, and the like.
- Selected
readings on exemplars and theories of good writing.
